What are your views on sexuality?

Sexuality… hmm. The dictionary describes simply as; one’s capacity for sexual feelings, or their preference.

Honestly, I believe that such a preference should be a free choice to everyone, and that every person has that right to their own sexuality, as they have their own right to freedom of speech, religion, etc. I know that especially in the culture I live in, experimenting in sexual preference is strongly and publicly supported. I personally don’t push it in such a way as to shout- “Go ahead, try everything out!” though. I have many friends who are gay, lesbian, or just bi (steady or on-occasion), and I must say one thing. Dealing with one sex is hard enough, I know especially as a teenager, and things do get more complicated, at least more confusing, for sure, by exploring your orientation more. Maybe I’m biased, just because that’s the way it’s been for people I know, but it’s what I’ve noticed.

Me, I’m a Christian. I have guidelines in my faith to be devoted to one sex only, the one my body is designed for. Many people think this is because God has a dislike for homosexual persons, but it’s not true. If you like, I’ll write more about the reason why, but that’s not what I’m asked to answer. What I wanted to say here is, as a member of a certain faith, I think it’s also alright for persons to adhere to their own faiths and steer away from sexual orientation in that case. However, I believe it’s wrong to press your own beliefs or opinions, rules that you’ve set for yourself to live, on someone else who doesn’t share that view.

I’d say, (this just in my personal opinion, as a straight female) that when regarding sexuality, one should first try looking to their opposite sex JUST SO they can see what’s there. There are many bad guys and gals in the world, but I believe that when you look at such closely, -now, not just physically - but looking at the natures of men and women, they work together so perfectly. Men and women compliment each other in such a way that I think is pretty beautiful, and if you find the right person, that click is really priceless. I could go on about this too, if you like, why they’re that way, but that’s not the question, and this is just my opinion.

I hope that something I wrote might help you out there, and remember that nomatter what boat you’re in, you don’t have to do anything all on your own. Feel free to ask me anything anytime, and lots of love to you.
